Arcane: League of Legends

I've always been drawn to stylized projects, and my first term (Intermediate) at Think Tank felt like the perfect time to dive into that challenge. When Arcane launched in 2021, everyone was captivated by its incredible art style and animation. The seamless blend of 2D and 3D was especially inspiring, and I knew I had to challenge myself to recreate one of the backgrounds in 3D.

My past work leaned more toward semi-realism, so this was an exciting new direction. I came across an amazing background piece by Geoffroy Thoorens on ArtStation from the first episode of Arcane and instantly knew this was the environment I had to work on. This project helped me level up my texturing skills—every asset was hand-painted in Substance Painter. Since the shot was directly inspired by an in-scene shot from Arcane, I also got the chance to really focus on nailing the lighting and overall look, which was such a huge part of what made the series stand out.

A huge thank you to my supervisor, Eric-Dima-Ala, for his guidance throughout the term and for all the support on this project!
